New Year's Eve will be here before you know it and so will the celebrations. Whether you are going out or staying home, there are always fun ways to celebrate. I made a New Year's Eve Treasury List on Etsy with some of my favorite handmade items for New Year's.
I was able to get a copy of The Great Christmas Scavenger Hunt Caper to review before Christmas. It is not the usual scavenger hunt you might play, but a mix of scavenger hunt, treasure hunt, and almost like the game "Clue." To play, you must print out all the game pieces and hide them within a playing area. Players are divided into teams and you must discover who kidnapped Santa, how they kidnapped him, and where the culprit elf is hiding. Along the way, you can find point card and situation cards. Point cards can be used to buy clues from other teams. Situation cards can make the game funnier by the situations on the card, and the player must act the situation out. For my kids, ages 8, 11, and 15, this game got mixed reviews. The preparation can be time consuming...everything needs to be cut out and placed in individual envelopes, then those envelopes need to be hidden throughout the play area. Also, since there are so many envelopes, my younger boys got tired of looking for the "right" envelope so they can win! Older kids or adults might enjoy it more...and maybe if there was an easier way to win? I'm not sure. Overall, it was fun because we were playing together. Now, just because Christmas is over, that doesn't mean there isn't fun to be had. Party Games Plus has 1000's of party games that you can download immediately and start playing. There are party game theme ideas, printable birthday games, and even games like Minute to Win It! For more information check out PartyGamesPlus.com.

The last week or so, I have felt days behind schedule, simply unable to catch up. Part of being behind has been not being able to take pictures of my family as we have been trying to enjoy the holidays. I did manage to get some pictures last night...before the wrapping paper went flying, the presents disappeared into everyone's room, and all that had been received was forgotten...
There is still time to make a present for someone close to you and homemade Christmas ornaments always make great presents. Here are some easy to make ornaments you could make for your friends and family from my Christmas Ornaments board on Pinterest.

The last Friday of every month, my boys have "Fun Friday" at school. This was started by the PTA as a way to let the kids know those of us in the PTA and keep the kids up to date with everything going on in the school. We make it a lot of fun, playing music, handing out treats, and sometimes, we even let the kids come up on the stage and dance! Since tomorrow is the last Friday, we are having our "Fun Friday" on the last day of school before Christmas break. Our "theme" for this month is "Festive Sweaters." Some will be tacky, some will be cute, but more than anything, we just want it to be fun for the kids.
Here's a fun collection of Festive Sweaters I created on Polyvore
