Autism Quotes

As April starts to wrap up, I think it is important to remind everyone about Autism Awareness. Autism now affects 1 in 88 children, and 1 in 54 boys. More children will be diagnosed this year with Autism, than AIDS, diabetes and cancer combined. Autism in the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the U.S, yet they only receive less than 5% of research funding compared to many of the less prevalent other childhood diseases. There is no medical detection or cure at this time. All of these reasons plus so many more are why Autism Awareness is so important. Here are some great quotes about Autism:
What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool?
You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave, chatting and socializing and not getting anything done.”
― Temple GrandinThe Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism & Asperger's

Autism (with a capital “A”) to me, says that I accept my child wholly. I celebrate his differences and his quirky-ness. I advocate diversity. I try to empower him. I am proud of his successes, no matter how small they seem. I hope he holds onto the compassion he has in his heart into adulthood. I do not think he needs “fixing”. I am proud that he is my son, and sometimes I am humbled by that very same thought.

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, And that enables you to laugh at life's realities." - Dr Seuss
Hey, keep staring at me and you just might cure my Autism. Then we can work on YOUR social skills.
‘Normal’ is a dryer setting.
If you have met one person with Autism, you have met one person with Autism.
I do not suffer from Autism, but I do suffer from the way you treat me.
Autism is not a tragedy. Ignorance is the tragedy.
People with AUTISM... do not lie, do not judge, do not play mind games. Maybe we can learn something from them.
I’m just like everybody else... only different.
